Modern Tibetan opera
1 min readModern Tibetan opera mainly refers to the professional stage, Tibetan opera, and the Tibetan Opera Troupe of Tibet Autonomous Region, including the adapted revolutionary model opera Red Lantern, Nangsa Obar, Princess Wencheng, Prince Norsang, Sukyi Nyima and Drowa Sangmo which are adapted from traditional Tibetan operas. It also includes newly created historical Tibetan operas Thangtong Gyalpo, Princess Wencheng, the Peking Opera-styled Tibetan opera Princess Wencheng, the newly created modern Tibetan opera Spring of Dogxong and others. All these programs are well received and some have even won awards at national level.
With lectures from old artists and diligent professional actors and actresses, the Tibetan Opera Troupe of Tibet Autonomous Region has fostered a batch of outstanding young actors and actresses mastering traditional skills. Palden Wangchug once won the Plum Blossom Prize, the highest theatrical award in China.
The performance of modern Tibetan opera of Prince Norsang The Tibetan Opera Troupe of Tibet Autonomous Region has travelled to Japan, the United States, Mongolia and other countries, gaining wide acclaim.
