In 46 BC, the Roman Emperor Caesar made the day the beginning of the New Year. The New Year’s holiday is often marked by fireworks, parades and reflections upon the past year, while looking ahead to the future’s possibilities during the New Year. Many people celebrate New Year in the company of loved ones, taking part in traditions meaning to bring luck and success in the coming year. People put on new clothes and say “Happy New Year” to friends.
