Pingyao Ancient Town

Pingyao is on the eastern banks of the Fen River and in the southwestern edge of the Taiyuan basin.It is near to Qi County，another Chinese Historic and Cultural City.Pingyao’s economy largely relies on agricultural and it is noted for its beef.

0ther products that the region produces contain grains，cotton，and lacquerware.It lies about 715 kilometers from Beijing and 80 kilometers from the provincial capital，Taiyuan.During the Qing Dynasty，Pingyao was a financial centre of China.Its history can date back 2，700 years，and is one of the best preserved ancient cities in the world.It is renowned for its well-preserved ancient city wall.Pingyao is famous for its 3 historical treasures namely the ancient large-brick city wall，the Zhenguo Temple，and the Shuanglin Temple.On December 3，1997，at the 2lst session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO，Pingyao was put on the World Heritage List.
