Beijing has an extensive bus system You can reach almost every corner of the city by bus. You can deposit a refundable RMB 20 to get a Beijing Bus IC card. With the card, most bus rides only cost 0.4 yuan (only about 6 cents U. S.), and no messy small bills any more.

The city’s subway and light rail cars are easier for foreigners to use since notices are translated into English and stations signs are written in pinyin.
