Beijing has an extensive bus system You can reach almost every corner of the city by bus. You can deposit a refundable RMB 20 to get a Beijing Bus IC card. With the card, most bus rides only cost 0.4 yuan (only about 6 cents U. S.), and no messy small bills any more.

The city’s subway and light rail cars are easier for foreigners to use since notices are translated into English and stations signs are written in pinyin.

“One of my favorite places to visit in Beijing is Liuyin Park, near Andingmenwai Da Jie. It’s not well known, but it’s really picturesque with willow trees and waterways filled with lotuses and ducks. There’s an outdoor teahouse on the island where you can buy drinks and snacks and relax in the shade. Coming here is like stepping into a Chinese landscape painting.

“If there’s one thing you absolutely should do while in Beijing it is to visit a park at 6: 30am. At that hour the parks are filled with tango-dancers, wrestlers, martial arts practitioners and people whose form of exercise is to scream “In underrated historic site that I particularly enjoy is the Bell Tower (behind the Drum Tower). Usually there are no other visitors and you have this wonderful old building to yourself. It’s a very peaceful place from which to contemplate the nearby hutongs, the bustling modern city in the distance, and the contrast between them.

Still, they are expanding. There are Line 1, Line 2, Line 4, Line 5, Line 8, Line 9, Line 10, Line 13. line 5, line1d a he Airport Express (ABC), and still some lines are under construction. The current subway system is very easy to access. There is only one fare for sickets vuan RMB no matter how long you ride or how far you go. After the Beijing Summer 0lympics Games, the automatic fare machines in subway stations became more popular for visitors. Only Chinese RMB can be used in the machines.
