“Rgya-kzhas”-a large ceremonial singing and dancing form

“Rgya-kzhas,”a large ceremonial song and dance form, is popular in Bucai Township, and Nailong Township of Nyalam County in western Shigatse, Cuoguo Village and Xiangba Village of Xiega Township, Dingri County, and Dingga Township of Saga County.

“Rgya-kzhas”is the large song and dance performance with many performers. The movements of male and female performers are the same, but the movement of the former is more robust than the latter, reflecting the rough and sturdy style of men, and simple and elegant charms of women in the Tsang area.”Rgya-kzhas”features magnificent rhythm.

“Shaking the head,””swinging the head”and other movements highlightthe uniqueness of the large yellow round cap;”shaking shoulders”and “twisting the waist”and other movements reflect ancient costumes and valuable accessories;”the splayed treading,””four steps on the same point “and other movements accentuate the ripple effect of the black skirt.
