Ruins of the Old City of Ake Spear
1 min readRuins of the old City of Ake Spear are located in the sand dunes 17km away from the south of today’s Luopu County. Ake Spear means”White City in the Uyghur language.
There are field canals and old river channel ruins stretching dozens of kilometers and a large area of rubble debris, straw burning material ruins, a large number of ancient coins and Buddhist artworks culture relics were unearthed. Most parts of the old City are buried by quicksand and the only remaining section of the north wall is cambered with a residual length of 93.6m a height of 5m a bottom width of 2.5m, a top width of 1.5m and crenels on the top.
According to the cambered wall, the old city should be rounded. the old City is a castle relic of khotan Kingdom in the Tang and Song Dynasties, around the scope of historical sites is very wide with an east and west width of about five or six kilometers and a north and south length of over 20km. The old City now is one of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Level Cultural Relics Protection Sites
