Sandao Hazi is located in the mountain area of 2,690m above sea level, 40km northeast of Qinghe County, which is formed by three alpine lakes of Huahaizi, Zhonghaizi, and Bianhaizi, and also the origin of Xiaoqing River. The visual field here is wide, aquatic weeds are lush, the water is calm reflecting the green trees, and the mysterious Sandao Hazi stone mausoleum is located here.
The stone mausoleum is the largest huge stone mound mausoleum in the world, and it was approved to be a national key cultural relic protection unit by the State Council in July 2001. According to experts, the huge stone is about 290m in perimeter, of 15m high, and its outer diameter is of 127m. The imperial mausoleum is cone-shape formed by two layers covering an area of 10 mu. The moat fending the mausoleum circles like an “s”, and it is 15km long.
The opinions on Sandao Hazi are inconsistent among archaeologists: some believe that it is a grand ruin for sacrificing, and the largest Temple of the Sun that has been found in the Eurasian steppe zone; some believe that it is a Mongolian imperial mausoleum; and others believe that it is the tomb of the leader of Saka people”one-eyed man”. There are san more than 50 stone stacks in different sizes around Sandao Hazi, as well as a number of cultural relics of ancient deer stones around the stone stacks and in the vast surrounding areas. Seemingly, there is nothing special, but the mysterious patterns are shocking after careful exploration of the display structure of the stones. Some scholars even believe boldly that those mysterious patterns are in concert with alien civilization. The patterns are arranged by the stone stacks, and most of them are similar to the patterns of”Mystery of the World-Crop Circle”found before 1989 The beautiful natural scenery, magnificent stone mound mausoleum, mysterious hidden tombs of the Emperors and cultural landscape with romantic charm together constitute the unique characteristics of tourism of Sandao Hazi.
