Sanya Bay
4 min readIf you prefer economic choices with less expenses and shorter time on the road,we would suggest Sanya Bay to you because it is convenient regarding transportation, food, shopping, taxi, and getting to the airport.Besides,Sanya Bay is grander with glamorous coconut trees and gorgeous views of the East Island and the West Island.Compared with Yalong Bay-“The First Bay under the Heaven”,Sanya Bay is more convenient.
Sanya Bay is situated about 8 km from the west of the suburbs of Sanya, which is known as a city of”Forever Tropical Paradise”.Sanya Bay,about 15 minutes’drive from downtown Sanya,is the longest bay on Hainan Island, stretching 20 kilometers, nestled along the most beautiful seaside road, immaculately clean and well kept. The long soft sandy beach is quietly kissed by the crystal clear waters of the South China Sea.
Some places of note in the area are Coconut Palms Avenue,a famous coastal scenic avenue built around Sanya Bay,and Haiyue Square-the closest spot to the sea in Sanya Bay.Here you can see the shaking willow statue, and the pool designed according to how the moon looks on the sea. Some people find it less impressive than Yalong Bay or Dadonghai Bay,but this is a place where tradition is still strong, where you can see local people fishing with nets-something you won’t see at the other bays. The view of the sunset from Sanya Bay is also the best in Hainan.
Sanya Bay is a relatively undiscovered premier tropical destination. It enjoys the longest beach in Sanya. lt has an easy access to Sanya International Airport, away from the flight path; this superb location offers all possible creature comforts. You can find the world-class luxury of the Palm Beach Resort & Spa, Holiday Inn, Sanya Bay and Tianfuyuan Resort, which will serve to please the most discerning visitors.
During the day time, this is a great place to soak up the sun, relax and just enjoy the unique and relaxed ambience that dominates this place. The night market here is especially lively with seafood thrown on the streets, stores selling all types of weird and wonderful wares, all adding to the chaotic feeling about this place. This is just about the only place in China with a really laid-back feeling and atmosphere. Whilst enjoying your private time, unlike many other locations, you will see more life of the local people. During the daytime, scattered older people stand along the shore to do fishing.
During evening time,a lot of local people sit under the palm trees and look at the vast South China Sea. The gentle breeze tenderly touches their hair as if a little girl were gently touching your forehead. Watching the sea birds flying back and forth on the sea, they are so absorbed that they can spend hours and hours just sitting still without doing anything. Some people also set the seaside barbecue stalls to entertain themselves. But compared to the beaches in Yalong Bay and Dadonghai Bay, the beach here is not very suitable for swimming as the international harbor of Phoenix Harbor located here.
At sunset, between the sky and the South Ocean red sunlights could be seen glowing there, and not far away from the sea, the sound of fishermen could be heard with forceful rhythm of “one, two, three”, and we could see a dozen of fishermen are struggling to pull a trawl. Don’t want to beach combing? Be quick to join them together to draw net, and experience the real life of thefishermen. The nets are not easy for them to draw, because each of the net at least is one hundred meters long. It will take them two or three hours to do the work and usually the work could be finished at eight in the evening. This kindof scenery could only be seen here in Sanya Bay, and fishing is not allowed in the resorts of Yalong Bay and Dadonghai Bay. Each of the fisherman can get their share by the average distribution, and respectively their wives and daughters sell their harvest at the small market near Yingbin Road, where we can enjoy the most fresh seafood barbecue and seafood hot pot.
Along Sanya Bay across Binhai Road, there are a lot of local seafood restaurants where you can try the authentic seafood such as crab, shrimp, squid, clam and fish. One of my favorite one is Yuanxinglong Restaurant as it offers delicious local food and wild vegetable with reasonable price and beautiful sea view. From the restaurant to the shopping street is only 5 minutes’ walk.
You can find the colorful local life which reflects the richness of traditional costumes, music, dance, food and handicrafts. At the public area, it is not difficult to find three kinds of dances, which are preformed with fans and scarves,a verystylized ballroom dancing and an interesting form of line dancing. All of these dances are done to traditional and contemporary Chinese music.
In Sanya Bay what attracts you is that it has a broad ocean boulevard, theCoconut Dream Corridor, which runs 20 kilometers along the bay.A beautiful stretch of park, palm trees and beaches are extending from downtown towards the airport and beyond with luxury high-rise apartments spring up along the way, and some family ocean view hotels with different architectural styles canmeet the needs of tourists. Brimming with the local life, Sanya Bay must not be missed during your trip to Hainan Island. In Sanya Bay, everything appears relaxed and comfortable, and what you can enjoy here is not only the convenience and the prosperity in the urban development, but a kind of mood!
