1 min readCONSTRUCTION OF HK-ZHUHAI-MACAO BRIDGE MAKING PROGRESS
Construction of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, linking Lantau Island in Hong Kong with the western part of the Pearl River Delta, is expected to be completed in late 2017, insiders revealed. Construction of the bridge started in 2009. The Y-shaped 55km bridge includes 6.7 km underwater tunnel and a 23km section over the sea, and will be the world’s longest cross-sea bridge.
“Everything is going according to plan, with only hundredsof meters of the 23km span over the sea to be completed.
The final connection is scheduled for the first quarter of next year. Said Chief engineer Su Quanke.
According to Meng Fanchao, Chief Designer of the bridge,the construction of the final part of the structure has to take into consideration lot of factors, both technically nentally. will shorten the four-hour drive from Hong Kong to Zhuhai in Guangdong Province to half an hour.
