Southern Border Feel

China’s and Vietnam’s mountain and river borders meet in Guangxi, and there has been a rich cultural mixing between the two close neighbors. A unique border tourism route is formed by Detian Waterfall in Daxin County-the world’s second largest cross-border falls, Tongling Canyon in Jingxi County, thrilling river rafting at Dawangling in Baise City, the Dashiwei Karst Doline Group and the Friendship Pass in Pingxiang City-one of China’s Nine Major Passes.

Huashan cliff paintings, a precious gem of ancient Zhuang culture, can be found in Ningming, Longzhou, Daxin counties and the adjacent Fusui County and Jiangzhou District along the Zuojiang River, covering 183 cliff painting sites along a 200-km stretch. Despite exposure to wind and rain for two millennia, the vivid pictures drawn in bold and rough strokes of red ochre remain clear. This cluster of cliff paintings stands out from all others of its kind in China and the world by reason of its wide distribution, heroic scale, rich content, and precipitous location.
