Spring of Thousands Tears
1 min readThe Spring of Thousands Tears is a wander of Kizil Caves. The Spring of Thousands Tears is surrounded by valleys with lush grass. At the edge of the valley bottom, there is a soaring cliff in a semi-bent shape. The drippings of the spring drop from hundred-meter cliff which is full of moss, forming a pool of water.
The water in the pool gurgles and flows out of the valley, which surprises all the tourists who have seen it. There is a folk legend saying that:a princess in ancient Qiuci kingdom fell in love with a poor lad. The king thought this marriage would spoil his family name, so he prevented it deliberately. Heordered the lad to chisel a hundred caves. If the lad couldn’t finfish, he not only couldn’t marry the princess, but also would be punished. The lad came to the mountain resolutely and tried his best to chisel caves. When he was chiseling the 99gth cave, he died of exhaustedness. When the princess heard the news, she came and hugged the lad, crying for three days until she died.
The moving loving story made the cliff and rock cry for several thousand years. So people call this pool “Spring of Thousands Tears”.
