Stainless steel plate

1 min read

The iron-plate sizzled dish is a Chinese version of the Japanese Teppanyaki or sukiyaki. In Japan and Japanese restaurants in the West, raw ingredients are cooked in front of you, on your table.

But in Chinese restaurants, the food is pre- cooked in the kitchen, then either brought to your table sizzling on an iron- plate or, in some cases, brought to your table on an ordinary dish before being tipped on to a very hot iron-plate in front of you, thus making a sizzling noise.

In order to do this at home, all you need is an iron-plate or griddle on a wooden base; they come in a variety of sizes (and shapes), but are comparatively inexpensive.
