Sun Wu’s Military Theory
1 min readSun Wu was one of the great military theorists in ancient China. He lived in an era of incessant wars among rival kingdoms during the Spring and Autumn Periods, about 2,500 years ago.
It was not clear when Sun Wu was born. Sun Wu wrote 13 volumes of military theories. Helü , the ruler of the State of Wu, asked Sun Wu to demonstrate his theories by drilling ladies of his court.
The beauties couldn’t help laughing when Sun Wu gave them orders. Then Sun Wu had two of them killed, and thus none of the others dared to laugh again. Finally, they were trained well enough to go into battle. Later, Sun Wu was appointed as a great general. From then on, Sun Wu led Wu’s armies with great success.
