Every university campus in Zhuhai has a share of the city’s sea view, but the seascape of the Zhuhai division of Jilin University has its unique attractiveness.
In winter, the balmy airstream from the sea and the cold, wet stream from the inland cross swords here. The resulting atmosphere meets with Guanyin Hill lying behind the campus, coagulating into a “bead curtain” that turns the campus into a foggy maze in which even the main gate and campus roads are easy to miss. When the summer heat sets in, the glaring sunbeam cascades through the sparse foliage of coconut trees into the campus. The joint force of strong ultraviolet rays and the sea gusts from the southeast is etched in the tanned skin of the students. Walk out the main gate, and you’ll be instantly inspired by the mesmerizing sea view that stretches five kilometers.
The South Gate and its surroundings comprise a bustling shopping arcade enjoyed almost exclusively by students and teachers at JLU Zhuhai College.
The inviting coastline within walking distance is not the only thing that makes up for the campus’s “out-of-the-way” location that is near the Zhuhai Airport. The university is also the proud owner of the single largest library building in Asia.
High-class sports facilities also recommend the school. For the students here, golfing is an outdoor routine.
