1 min readThe Temple of Heaven was the place where the Ming and Qing dynasties’emperors worshipped heaven or prayed for good bumper.It’s located in southeastern part of Beijing,also the largest heaven-worshipping site in the world.The architectural combines the Ming and Qing style together.It has a circumference of 6,369 meters with the wall being 6 meters high.The Circular Mound Altar has 3 layered terraces with white griotte.The 4 pillars along the inner circle represent four seasons,namely,spring,summer,autumn and winter;the 12 pillars along the middle circle represent the 12 months;and the 12 pillars along the outer circle symbolize the 12divisions of the day and night or the 12 two-hour period used in ancient China.TheEcho Wall and The Three Triple-sound Stone are also worth to go.The Echo Wall is acircular wall surrounding the Imperial Vault of Heaven which was built of polished bricks,the wall is 3.7 meters high,90 centimeters thick and 193.2 meters long.In 1998,the Temple of Heaven was registered on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
