The Exhibition Hall of Hu silk

From the Southern Song Dynasty, Nanxun has been famous for its “richness from farming and silk industry, ranking the first in Zhejiang”. Ithad the size of “Prosperous Town of the South”in the reign of Wanli period of the the Ming Dynasty.

Nanxun’s development benefited considerably from its silk industry. Its silk products have been famous both at home and abroad. In the hall, many models, specimens, pictures and material objects related to mulberry silk are on display. They include the certificate ofGolden Prize which was awarded at the first World Expo in Panama(1915), the early old-fashioned silk reeling machines,a group of clay figures inshapes of picking mulberry leaves, cultivating silkworms, silk reeling andtrading etc.

All those vividly present the prosperous silk economy of the small town before one hundred years.
