1 min readThe Great Mosque,also named the Huajue Alley Mosque,is one of the oldest and the most famous mosques in China.It was founded in 742,still as a place of worship for Chinese Muslims today,especially the Hui peoples.Different from mosques in Middle Eastern or Arab countries,the Great Mosque of Xi’an is mainly Chinese in itsconstruction and architectural style,but the inner decoration strictly corresponded to the Islamic requirements.Writings in the hall are all in Arabic.It is a greatarchitectural art which combined of Chinese and Islamic two different styles.The Great Mosque has been listed by UNESCO as an important international Islamic cultural relic,and the State Council of China has classified it as a key national historical unit.
