Bo’ao is located in the eastern part of southernmost province-Hainan Province.It is about 20 km to Jiaji Town，110 km to Haikou City and 100 km away from Meilan Airport.Bo’ao belongs to tropical monsoon climate，and it locates in subtropics with abundant sunshine and enough rainfall.The annual average temperature is 24.1 degrees Celsius.The temperature in hottest July is just 10 degrees higher than the coldest January.Here is one of the coolest places in Hainan in summer because of the wind from the sea.The annual average sunshine hours are 2，155 hours，and the annual average rainfall is 1，800？2，200 millimetres.It is a small water town.It only covers an area of 41.8 sq km including an aquatic area of 8.5 sq km.Bo’ao Aquapolis locates at the mouth of Wanquan River.It has everything which appeals to the romantic，tree-fringed rivers and lakes, evergreen mountains and islets with rivers and tropical plants. There are soft-sandy beaches with coconut trees, blue sky with white clouds, hot springs with rare stones, bushes with flowers, the harbor with sand dykes. The three rivers of Wanquan River, Jiuqu River and Longgun River, three islets of Yuanyang, Shapo and Dongyu, and the three mountains wind their ways towards east. The three rivers glide gently on its way to the South China Sea and down to the Pacific Ocean. The nature and harmony kept here make the mouth of Wanquan River a real charming, picturesque setting. It presents the finest example of nature conservation in the world. This is why Bo’ ao isselected to be the location of Asian Forum. Meanwhile it is also the typical representative of the landscape feature in Bo’ ao.

There are several functional areas in the Bo’ ao Aquapolis, such as Yudaitan Beach, Wangquan River, the Dongyu Islet, Jiuqu River, Longtan Ridge, City of Sun and so forth. Yudaitan Beach locates in the eastern part of Bo’ ao Aquapolis, which is naturally formed as a peninsula with a narrow and long topography. Outside the Yudaitan Beach, you might find the vast and fierce South China Sea, but inside it flows the calm and peaceful Wanquan River. They echo with each other, and form an unusual spectacle. The unique topography and landforms of the beach can not be found in any other places in Asia. The Yudaitan Beach is 8.5 kilometres long, ranging from 10 meters to 500 meters wide and separates the South China Sea and Wanquan River. The northern part of theYudaitan Beach is considered as the best in the Guinness Book of Records because of the narrowest beach peninsula, which divides the sea and river, by the Chinese authoritative agent organization-Big World Guinness which is built in Shanghai by international Guinness headquarters. It is commonly considered that the topography and landforms look like Miami in America, the Cancun in Mexico and the Gold Coast of Australia. It is the only one in Asia. So, the northern part of Yudaitan Beach will maintain fully its raw situation as the tourist spot for visiting. Wanquan River used to be called Baiquan River. The southern part originates the south ridge of Linbei Village in Wuzhishan Mountain, and the northern part originates Limu Ridge. The length of the river is 163 kilometers. The watershed areas are 3,683 square kilometers. It isamazing because of the typical tropical rain forests landscapes and the fantastic landform along the both sides of the river. This river is also called the Amazon in China. The famous conference and exhibition center for Asia forum-Hotel Sofitel has been built on Dongyu Island now. And another five first-class golf courses with 18 holes, five-star hotels and the conference centers for Forum of Asia will be completed. Bo’ ao Forum for Asia is a non-profit international organization. The Forum is committed to promote regional economic trade and integration. Bo’ ao Forum for Asia has been widely focused all the time since it was announced that it had been established in February 2001.
