The Primitive Forest Park in Yunnan Xishuangbanna

The Primitive Forest Park of Xishuangbanna lies besides the Kunluo Road (213 state road) and is eight kilometers away from Jinghong, the capital city of Xishuanghanna. The whole garden covers an area of 16.7 square kilometers. It has an elevation between 762 and 1 355 meters. It is the best-preserved valley rainforest in the south of the Tropic of Cancer and the forest coverage reaches 98%. It has a distinctive humanistic landscape, revealing to the visitors the harmony between man and nature and the idea of”returning to nature”by its four themes-“primitiveforest, wild animal, ethnic customs and peacock culture.”It was granted National 4A Tourism Attraction in July 2002, Provincial Forest Park and Popular Science Education Base of Yunnan in 2003, and the National Forest Park in December 2005.
Peacock Garden
The Peacock Garden has coverage of over 3 hectares and within it lives more than 1,000 peacocks. The flocks of peacocks compete to unfold their tails, particularly in front of girls with beautiful clothes. Visitors can take pictures, play with the peacocks and see the spectacular flying view of hundreds of peacocks.
Garden of Endangered Tropical Plants
Xishuangbanna is known as a Kingdom of Plants. When you come to the Garden of Endangered Tropical Plants, you can enjoy the unique charm of plants and the Primitive Forest Park, and learn a little about botany.
In the garden there are China Meranti-the tallest arbor plant in China, the Plank Buttresses Root which over ten people can embrace it, the Strangling trees alternating together and the Samydaceaes with the history of thousands of hundreds of years. Other natural wonder which range from the Strangling Plants, the Dripping Points, the One Tree A Forest, the Hanging Garden, the Cluster and the Vine and Trailing Plants alternating together can often been seen in the valley rainforest. Visitors can also be captivated by the deep valleys, warbling birds, thick woods and clear lakes. Will all these make you feel too many things for the eye to see at once?
Garden of Wild Animals
Thousands of animals inhabit here, in the remote area of the forest, you can see the straight crane，deer looking for food，monkey playing on the old cane，sometimes the wild cows which are the first-class preserved animal.The unfolding tail of peacocks welcoming guests，monkeys are playing with people and black bears，boas，lizards and pangolins are precious animals that can enable you to know more about the animal kingdom.There are unique ethnic programs besides the beautiful scenery，such as the”Snatching the Bride”in the Aini village，the Water-Splashing Festival，and the dancing performance of various minority people.The participation of visitors is absorbing，and enjoy themselves so much as to feel reluctant to tear themselves away from the place.
Performing Ground
Here another scene of great magnitude and grandeur is the ceremony of ascension to the throne when the Dai chieftain recruits a section chief.Visitors are sure to be interested in the splendid palatial architecture；marvelous ethnic folk songs and dances；colorful ethnic costumes，and they will appreciate the broad culture of the Dai.The present performance is a kind of hunting activity of the Hani People.People hunt with bows and arrows，and the prey may be roasted.As participants，visitors can experience the customs of the Hani people and enjoy the fun.
