Yamzhog Yumco Lake, lying at 4,400 meters above sea level, covers an area of more than 700 square km, being one of the three holy lakes of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Potala Palace in Lhasa is the world’s highest palace-style building in the world. Built in the 7th Century during the Tubo Dynasty(618-842), it retains many of its original features intact.

The Nam Co Lake in Damxung, Tibet, lying at an elevation of 4,718 meters, is one of the three holy lakes of Tibetan Buddhism. The picture was taken during the Tibetan Year of Sheep, the recurrent year of the Nam Co Lake, when tens of thousands of Tibetan pilgrims came for ritual walks. Sutra streamers fluttered in the mountain wind for blessing.

From the Guge ruins archaeologists have found many murals believed to be some 700 years old that are regarded as the most numerous and complete found so far.
The Bodhi Pagoda in the Palkor Monastery in Gyangze, featuring a combined architectural style of Han Chinese, Tibetans and Nepalese, has 108 gates. It is known as the 10,000-Buddha Pagoda.

The Lancang River is one of the major rivers in Southwest China, being the upper stretches in China of what later becomes the famed Mekong River passing through Indochina to the sea. Here the river passes through Yanjing in Qamdo amid mountains.
