2 min readDragon Head Raising Day（Every Lunar Feb.2nd）In the traditional festive days of China，Dragon Head Raising Festival is a festive day marking the blessing for peace and wishes for harvest.The festival in Sanya is themed with”custom，art，culture，convention”，released at the Caves Tourism Zone to demonstrate the dragon culture of Hainan through”ritual for South Sea King of Dragon”.At that point of time，Sanya Bay and Dadonghai would get boiling with clouds of people flocking to the beach to wash away whammy and bless for good luck for the following years.
Hainan Li and Miao Lunar March 3rd “Lunar March 3rd”is a traditional festival on which young Li and Miao people get together to express their admirations to each other，therefore it is called a day of saying love.People also hold the tradition of celebrating the gala day.On the day，people would flock together to wish for double harvest.The elderly would bring along the preserved meat and rice wine，come to the most prestigious elderly of village，sit in circle and drink to their satisfaction.Now on Lunar March 3rd，large-scale ethnic events would be held in Sanya City，mainly launching singing and dancing performance，sport games and other featured activities.
Dragon Boat Festival(Every Lunar May 5th) On Dragon Boat Festival Day every year, dragon boat contest is a must, carried out at the port or on the Sanya River, giving great fun to the citizens of Sanya. In the sound of firecrackers, the numerous spectators would flock to the port or flank the river banks to cheer for their favorable teams. The contestants, in the anticipation of the public, would strive to reach the finish by breaking against the wave.
Mid-autumn Festival(Every Lunar August 15th) The Mid-autumn Festival is marked by a performing party held at Sanya in the theme of”bright moon goes up on sea, while the world shares a common moment”. In China Mid-autumn Festival is only second in importance to the Spring Festival. The local people would as well take their family to the beach to appreciate the full moon.
The Double Ninth Day-China Nanshan Longevity Cultural Festival (Lunar Sep.9th) This event is held by Mount Nanshan once every two years, featuring large-scale culture and art performance, seminar on social science and culture ofsenior people, inviting contest for senior painting and calligraphy, mountain climbing, games for senior people and other theme activities. Now this eventhas become a remarkable brand name for tourists throughout the country, and has worldwide influence.
