TRAIN

Beijing is the heart of China’s extensive rail network. The capital has four main stations, Beijing Station(Beijing huochezhan), Beijing West Station(Beijina xikezhan), Beijing South Station(Beijing nanzhan) and Beijing North Station(Beijing beizhan). Since the stations are at opposite ends of the city,be sure to confirm the departure point of your train lest you end up at the wrong station.

Tickets can be purchased 4 days to 20 days in advance depending on the train line Train lines start with a “D” are the new Chinese high speed bullet trains; lines with a “Z” initial are the one stop trains. Foreigners can purchase at the foreigners’railway ticket office in the central hall of Beijing Station. Tickets on local trains or commuter trains to nearby Tianjin can be bought at the station before departure. The most convenien way to grab some tickets is through a travel agent or your hotel concierge.

 Taxis, subways and buses serve both major stations.
