Ahead are formidable challenges of how to maintain the attraction of folk-custom tourismin the face of the ever—changing demands and tastes of modern tourists, and how to achievea sustainable development of such an individuality-based industry.While working to improve the hardware infrastructure, the village has also attachedimportance to the vocational education and technical training for the farmers.
Aiming at thegoals of “enhancing accommodation capacity, improving living quality, restructuringemployment resources, and building up a name-brand image,” the village managers haveadopted effective measures and organized technical training in terms of accommodationetiquette, guestroom service, feature cuisine, weaving, paper-cut, and practical English.Their hope: Improve the comprehensive quality of the villagers, cultivate a group of modem—time farmers who are culturally advanced, economically savvy, and good at management,and make them the leading force in the construction of new socialist countryside.
According to the village plan, professionals in etiquette and cooking will be invited tofarmers’ homes for face—to—face classes, and training programs in flower arrangement, paper-cut, and other folk handicrafts with local flavor will be offered. Tourists visiting Guangdiwill not only be able to eat well, stay comfortably and rejuvenate; they will also enjoy agenuine sampling of the village’s various and charming cultural attractions.
