Xinjiang covers one-sixth of China’s territory with the area of 1.66 million square kilometers, corresponding to three Frances. Gobi and desert cover 95% of the total area of this vast land. 145,200 km of modern asphalt road has been built, while there was only 3,000 kilometers of the earth roads at the beginning of the Liberation; more than 2,000 large and mediumsized- bridges have been constructe, while there was not any permanent bridge before the Liberation; according to history the emancipated peasant Uncle Kurban rode his donkey to Beijing to see Chairman Mao. Since then road networks extend in all directions… all demonstrate to the world that: Xinjiang is no longer remote, and the beautiful Xinjiang is taking off!

Tianshan has brought unlimited opportunities for the development of Xinjiang. All routes, both the three-dimensional traffic artery constituted by roads, railways, and civil aviation, the oil and gas pipelines which extend abroad and to the mainland, and the transmission lines and communication cables as fine as a spider’s web, have injected infinite vitality for the development of Xinjiang.
