Chuanr

Chuanr,sometimes referred to as chuan,is small pieces of meatroasted on skewers.Chuanr originates in Xinjiang of China and in recent years has spread throughout the rest of the country,most notably in Beijing,Tianjin,and Jilin where it is a popular street food.

Chuanr are roasted over charcoal or,electric heat.It is sometimes also deep fried in oil(popular in Beijing).It can be classified as a-type of kebab.Chuanr was traditionally made from lamb which is still |子the most common,but now chicken,pork,beef and various types of seafood can also be used.In general,chuanr may be spiced according to preference,but generally cumin seed,dried pepper flakes,salt and sesame or sesame oil are sprinkled or brushed onto it.

Tanghulu

Tanghulu,also called bingtanghulu,is a traditional Chinese snack of candied fruit.It is available in many Chinese cities,such as Beijing,Tianjin,Shanghai,and other Chinese cities.It consists of candied fruits on bamboo skewers that are approximately 20cm long.This snack can be found widely along the Beijing snack street Wangfujing and there are also street vendors who travel from place to place selling it.

Tanghulu typically has a hardened sugar coating that comes from dipping the skewer in sugar syrup,but versions can also be found with a second chocolate coating or sesame sprinkles.Traditionally the fruit is Chinese hawthorn,but in recent times vendors have also used various other fruits,such as cherry tomatoes,mandarin oranges,strawberries,blueberries,pineapples,kiwifruit,bananas or grapes.
