West Island Scenic Spot

West Island is located in the west of Sanya City.As we all know，there are many small islands around Hainan Island.Among them，West Island is the second largest one.It occupies an area of 2.8 square kilometers.The distance between the West Island and Sanya City is almost 8 nautical miles.Taking a speed boat to West Island will cost you 10 minutes.It is very fast and convenient for the tourists to go to the small island.
West Island has a nick name—Hawksbill Island.Hawksbill is a kind of marine animal which is so precious that people regard it as a nationally protected animal.So，why did the island get so special a name？In fact，there is another small island called East Island beside West Island.If you observe it carefully，you can find that the shape of these two small islands is just like two hawksbills that are swimming in the sea.It is said that long long ago，there was a dragon living in the South Sea.He wanted to prove he was the strongest one in the whole world.So，he often hurt the fishermen.The people living there faced a very difficult situation.The Guanyin Bodhisattva was very sad and sympathized with the people.So，she asked two mythical hawksbills to help and protect the people.Day after day，year after year，the two mythical hawksbills became twosmall islands and they would protect their people forever.That is the reason why people call this small island Hawksbill Island.Until now，the people living on this island are still under the protection of the mythical hawksbill.There is a kind of strange phenomenon that when some girls were going to leave West Island after she married boys from other places, the waves of the sea would become stronger, and it would be rainy even on a sunny day. It is said that it is because the mythical hawksbill loved his people so much that he did not want his people to leave him. The wave was the arm to hug the girl and the rain was the tears of the hawksbill.
West Island is far away from the city center. Owing to the special location, West Island is less polluted when you compare it with other attractions. West Island, richly endowed by nature, has gathered all the precious natural treasures: fresh air, soft beach, clear seawater. Around the island, there are many beautiful corals among which live many different kinds of tropical fishes. All of these provide a charming paradise for the visitors and it is really a good choice for the visitors to embrace nature.
Niuwang Island
The most interesting place of West Island is Niuwang Island. Niuwang means the king of oxes in English. When you are on this small island, you can enjoy the beautiful seascape. Watching sunset from this island is the most famous and romantic thing. Many couples or lovers would like to have a try.
The Haishi-Shanmeng Pavilion is the symbol of Niuwang Island; Haishi-Shanmeng means a solemn pledge of love. People can have a visit to this romantic pavilion and make a wish for eternal love.
Having a view of the rock with different shapes on the beach is also a good choice. Among them, the Linggui Stone is the most famous one. All of these stones are so amazing that we have to admire the wonderful workmanship of nature.
Fishing in West Island
West Island Fishing Club is the largest and biggest fishing club in Sanya City. In the east part of West Island, people built some platforms for fishing, the largest one of which occupies an area of 200 square meters, and can accommodate more than 100 people and provides fishing tackle for visitors. This club can also let visitors experience fishing in soft music and visitors even can taste their favourite tea.
At the same time, this club provides experienced fishing guide teachers to help you. You can ask a chef to cook the delicious fish soup. It is really a kind of enjoyment.
Water Sports
Having a try of different water sports is an important part of West Island Diving is the most famous one. You may hear something about the diving in Wuzhizhou Island. When you are in West Island, you can also experience divininto the sea. You can see many colorful corals and play games with tropicalfishes. In West Island, you can not only experience diving, but also try many other different kinds of water sports, such as banana ship, parasailing andmotorboat. Fishing is also a very good choice for you. Tasting seafood is a necessary part of your journey. Compared with other restaurants in the central part of Sanya City, the seafood provided in West Island is fresher.
Some Tips for Diving
1.Be sure you are in good health；people from 6 years old to 60 years old are eligible to participate.
2.Whether you can swim or not，you can take part in it.
3.The drunken are not allowed to take part in it.
4.People who suffer from heart disease，asthma and high blood pressure can not participate.
5.Do not use earplugs.
6.Must master several gesture languages to make your coach understand what you want to say underwater.
7.Make sure your coach always keep company with you.
