Wuyuan International Cultural Tourism Festival
3 min readWuyuan County is located in the northeast of Jiangxi Province.It links with Quzhou in Zhejiang to its east，Shangrao to its south，Jingdezhen to its west andMount Huang to its north.It is like a bright pearl embedded in the Mount Huang一Wuyuan-Mount Lu golden tour line and is honoured as the“Most Beautiful Countryside in China”by the media at home and abroad.With an 82%forest coverage，Wuyuan is one of the sixteen most ecologically advanced agriculture counties in China.Like a large park，the county is praised as“the Last Shangri La”.
Wengong Hill，Yuanyang Lake（the Mandarin Duck Lake）and Linyan Cave are known as ecological wonders.There are also many well-preserved ancient Hui-style villages like Jiangwan，Wangkou，Sixi and Likeng.The Hui-style ancient buildings with pink walls and black tiles，which are faintly visible amid the green hills and blue waters，make up a picturesque landscape depicting the symbiosis of man and nature.
Wuyuan is the hometown of Philosopher Zhu Xi and Zhan Tianyou-the Father of Railroads in China.There were 550 successful candidates all together from Wuyuan who succeeded in the highest imperial examinations in the past.The elegant Hui Opera，one of the origins of Beijing Opera，the plain Luo Dance known as the “Dance Live Fossil”，the Folk Garret-lifting Art reputed for“A Unique in China”and the charming tea performance all make Wuyuan an attractive scenic spot.
In order to accelerate the pace of constructing Wuyuan as a strong county in economy，large in tourism and famous in culture，to further promote its popularity，Wuyuan International Cultural Tourism Festival is held here.It is directed by State Tourism Bureau，hosted by Shangrao Municipal Government&Jiangxi Provincial Tourism Bureau，and undertook by Wuyuan County Government&Shangrao Municipal Tourism Bureau.The festival will last for one month.
The main content of the festival involves 12 activities.They are performance by national artistic group，international tea fair，international seminar about Zhuzi Doctrine，performance of folklore，masterpiece display of cultural relics，exhibition of tourist articles，delicious food show，fair of attracting investment&funds，fair on tourism promotion&introduction.The festival will progress in three stages.The first phase is primarily about the opening ceremony with large show of culture and art，from May 1 to May 6（Golden Week）.Combined stage performance with moving performance，it shows the folk art of Hui Drama，garret-lifting and Luo Dance，presents the special folklore of Wuyuan，introduces such characteristic cuisine as Mandarin Duck Banquet，Wengong Banquet，and Farmhouse Banquet to tourists and displays the masterpiece of cultural relics in Wuyuan Museum which is the first-class in county-level.The second phase will hold intermational tea fair and intermational seminar about Zhuzi Doctrine，from May 10 to May 19.At that time，the tea experts and scholars from home and abroad will crowd in Wuyuan to deliberate on tea culture.The ten best performing teams on sado from home and abroad and local team will act together to show their charm.Experts from home and abroad on Zhuzi research will discuss Zhuzi Doctrine with his descendants，and go to pay homage to the relics of Zhuzi’s residence and his ancestral grave.The last phase on May 29 is the closing ceremony，and national artistic performing teams will appear in the stage.
Thousands of actors and audience will raise the festival to climax.At the same time，every scenic area will hold colorful tourism cultural activities that are in harmony with its own cultural background.
