6 min readTalking about Hainan，we couldn’t control thinking about golden beaches，bright sunshine，soft sands and blue sea water.Besides，when talking about Wuzhishan City which is located at the center of Hainan Island，the key words would always be green and healthy.Wuzhishan City is nicknamed Jade Mountain Town.It is a fascinating tourist destination in which you can climb mountains and enjoy leisure time.Well，the next destination we are going to visit is Wuzhishan Tropical Rainforest Scenic Spot.It is located in Shuiman Village which is at the foot of Wuzhishan Mountain.This spot is 28 km away from Wuzhishan City center，110 km away from Sanya City.
Dear friends，we are approaching Wuzhishan City.Before entering the city，ld like to make a brief introduction of this beautiful mountain town.The former name of Wuzhishan City is Tong Za City.It is translated from Li language，meaning high mountain and cold water.The Li people are the earliest residents who have old and distinctive customs since ancient times.In the past，hunting was a way to make a living for Li people.So，they were really good at climbing and wading.The story about the deer in Luhuitou Park，a classic love legend of Li people，was originated from here.The young hunter Hei traced a fairy deer maiden from Wuzhishan Mountain to Sanya，and finally they lived happily together ever after.The Li people have their own language，but no written words.Such a traditional custom has been preserved until now.
There goes a saying，”one who has not climbed over Wuzhishan Mountain has never been to Hainan.”According to this，we can learn that Wuzhishan Mountain is the symbol of Hainan Island.There is an old legend about the origin of Wuzhishan Mountain.A Li mother with her five industrious sons was killed by a devil.Irritated animals like bears，leopards，ants，bees and birds got united and exterminated the devil.The animals buried the five brothers.Time went by，the five brothers’tombs uplifted and formed into five peaks.People named it Wuzi meaning five sons.Because the five peaks are in the shape of a palm，so they renamed it Wuzhi meaning five fingers.Among the five，the second peak is the highest with an elevation of 1，876.1m.It is also the highest peak in Hainan Province which is even 342m higher than Mount Tai.
Dear friends，we have arrived at the destination.Please get off the bus with me. Now we are at the foot of Wuzhishan Mountain. The Li village with the highest elevation in the mountain is Shuiman Village, and Shuiman means the highest. This place is rich in Shuiman tea, which grows in the very high mountain, and it is one of the famous specialties in Hainan. People here are really nice and hospitable. If conditions permit, you can visit the villages to experience the culture and customs of the Li nationality in the future.

Now, please follow me to enter the Wuzhishan Tropical Rainforest Scenic Spot. Wuzhishan tropical rainforest area is delineated as national natural reserve which is ranked as 3A scenic zone. It covers an area of 14,000 hectares and has virgin forest of 90.63 square kilometers. Shuiman River, the mother river of Li people, flows gently through over here. It is combined by the Mountain Spring which is also the origin of Changhua River, the second river of Hainan Province. The reason why Wuzhishan City is called the Jade Mountain Town is because it is surrounded by green hills and green rivers all year round. Here, warm in winter and cool in summer, the highest temperature in summer is 25 degrees at average. The air here is so pure that there are more than ten thousand negative oxygen icons per cubic centimeter. No wonder people call here the natural oxygen bar. It is absolutely a fascinating vacationing resort.
Please look at the famous scenic spot, thousand-year-old banyan and ten-thousand-year-old fairy turtle. Meantime it is the beginning of Wuzhishan Tropical Rainforest Road. Then please enjoy the magnificent views along this road with me. As you can see, the stream next to us is the Shuiman creek. On both sides of the road are the typical mountain rainforest and valleyrainforest. You can see vines and huge banyan trees and orchid flowers everywhere. Here, you will see miraculous mother-son trees, high tabular roots plants hanging and air garden. You may ask what air garden is. Let me tell you, the air garden is a kind of plant parasitic phenomenon. Plant seeds are usually scattered on the upper branches by animals like birds, then sprouting and flowering. Just like a garden which is built in the air, hence the name.
Ihave to mention that there is a newly-built Wuzhishan Butterfly Ecological Pasture near here.Beautiful papilios have been successfully bred there.Wuzhishan is the kingdom of butterflies.There are more than six hundred kinds of butterflies in the tropical rainforest area.This number accounts for about one-third of all the butterfly species in our country.Amazing Wuzhishan Mountain with colorful flowers and flying butterflies will let you fully relax and forget to leave！
Now，we have arrived at the best point to enjoy the splendid view of Wuzhishan Mountain，Guanshan Platform.We can overlook 1，876m-high Wuzhishan Mountain，the roof of Hainan Island，at the front side far from hereViewing Wuzhishan Mountain from afar，you can see five peaks striking the sky and meeting the clouds.Just like the well-known verse from Qiu Jun，the famous scholar in Hainan’s history，”could it be the stretched arm of the fairy giant？
Just watching the mainland from overseas.”The mountain with rolling ridges，green trees and white clouds is indeed a paradise of climbing lovers.At present，the first and second peaks with the enormous rock in the valley are suitable for tourists to climb.On the way we can visit the fairy pond，the temple of Bodhisattva Guanyin and the Greeting Pine.The third，fourth and fifth peaks are a little bit far.Also they are splendid，but hard to reach.Standing here，you can enjoy the wonderful scenery.And when you get to the mountain top above the clouds，you could enjoy the marvelous feeling of walking in heaven！If you have enough courage to watch the sunrise upon the South China Sea from here，the beauty of sea-mountain views will make you fully impressed！
After one night’s rest，it looks like that with full of energy，you just can’t wait to depart.OK，let’s move right now！
Take a closer look at Wuzhishan，you can see five”fingers”standing from the southwest to northeast.The first peak is more than 1.3 thousand meters above sea level which is steeply pointing to the sky.The whole mountain looks like a huge pyramid with five beak-like peaks.If you climb up to the top of the first peak，you’ll find a flat rock with a size of more than 10 square meters.There you can take a break and take some pictures.
The second peak is the highest one with an elevation of 1，876m above sea level.The way near the peaks is really hard to take.There is a bridge between the first and second peaks which is made by a natural huge rock.It is said to be a bridge to heaven and a good place for fairies to play around.On this bridge，the second peak is within touch.
The third，fourth and fifth peaks are a little far from us.Actually，the third peak was the highest among the five long ago，but then cut by a thunder.The peaks are separate at the tops but united with bodies.So，our task will be completed when we get to the top of the second peak.
After going through all these，we’ve got the top of Hainan Island above the clouds finally！Looking around，you can see the winding mountains and rivers under our feet.Have you felt like a king looking down at the whole world？It might remind you of Sun Wukong right here right now.Although we can’t write down”I’ve been here”on Buddha’s finger like him，we can still shout loudly towards the splendid land:I’m here！I’m in Hainan！I’m in Wuzhishan！
