During Xi’an’s 3,100-year development, 13 dynasties such as the Western Zhou Dynasty (11th century B.C.-771 B.C.), the Qin Dynasty (221 B.C.-206 B.C.), the Western Han Dynasty (206 B.C.-24 A.D.) and the Tang Dynasty (618-907) placed their capital here.
Now, Xi’an enjoys equal fame with Athens, Cairo, and Rome as one of the capitals of the four major ancient civilizations. Xi’an is now the capital city of Shaanxi Province. Due to the cultural and historical significance of the area as well as many relics and sites, Xi’an is regarded as the “Natural History Museum”.
The Terracotta Warriors and Horses is praised as “the Eighth Major Miracle of the World”; the Mausoleum of Emperor Qinshihuang is on the World Heritage List ; the City Wall of the Ming Dynasty is the largest and most intact castle in the world. In recent years, tourism in Xi’an develops very fast and has attracted many foreign visitors. This ancient city is full of fun and surprise.
