Xinjiang is rich in coal resources
2 min readXin jiang has five energy minerals of coal, oil, natural gas, oil shale and uranium, among which coal, oil and natural gas are Xinjiang’s most advantageous mineral resources.
The expected coal stratum in Xin jiang is 307,000km2, and the predicted coal resources is 2.19 trillion tons, accounting for 40% of China, ranking first in all Chinese provinces; the ascertained reserves is about over 17 billion tons, ranking eighth in China and secondinnorthwestern China; Turpan-Kumul Basin and Junggar Basin have been listed in the top ten coalfields in the world.
Xinjiang is one of the most prospective land oil lands in China. Junggar, Tarim and Turpan-Kumul oil and gas sedimentation basins and other 19 big and small sedimentatior basins have good geological conditions for oil forming with a sedimentation area of 950,000km², accounting for 1/4 of China’s sedimentation are. Tarim Basin covers 560,000km² and is the largest sedimentation basin in China and the starting point of “West-East Natural Gas Transmission”. The basin has an expected oil and gas quantity of 18.4 billion tons including 10.1 billion tons of oil and 8.3 trillion m² of gas. According to the second oil and gas resources evaluation, the amount of oil resources in Xin jiang is 30 billion tons, accounting for 1/4of the total 94 billion tons of land oil resources in China, and its recoverable oil reserves ranks third in China and the unused oil reserves rank first in China; crude oil in Xinjiang has the features of low sulfur content and low freezing point and is the best raw material for producing advanced lubricants, asphalt on the expressway, seniorrefrigeration engine oil, pharmaceutical products and cosmetics. In particular, the reserve and quality of heavy oil rank first in the nation.
Xin jiang has a natural gas reserve of 10.8 trillion m3, accounting for 34% of the 30 trillion m³ of land natural gas in China.
