1 min readThe network of forest in Shihezi is very dense, where there is a road, there must be trees.
The city has a lot of trees, greenbelts, plazas and parks. Parks, squares, and yards have been greening with rational combination of arbor, bush and rattan, making an oasis city of unique style in the arid area, as well as a reclamation city of forest characterist. The 157-meter-wide green barriers have been set between the residential and industrial land,effectively easing the wind-blown sand and providing a good ecological environment for the civic life and work.
The green of Shihezi was made with the universal participation of citizens. The enthusiasm of planting, preserving, and loving the green was quite high. The city also launched an activity of adopting the greenbelt. At present, the greening rate has reached 36.7%, the forest coverage rate of 35%, and per capita public green area has reached 12.1 square meters.
Shihezi has won successively the “National Garden City”, “China Excellent Tourism City”,”the National Greening Model City”, andAdvanced City of Creating Civilized City Program of China” and so on.
The formidable natural conditions highlights more the hard-earned good ecological environment, therefore, Shihezi was awarded the”Dubai Award for Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment”, the first session of “China Habitat Environment Prize”, and many other honors.
