Yesterday’s China, today’s china
1 min readEverything to do with China is complex and defiant; it will suffice to simply mention its colossal building projects and works, such as the Three Gorges hydroelectric dam, a modern take on projects built thousands of years ago such as the great Wall(Chang Cheng: Long Fortress), running along the crests of mountains for thousands of kilometres; or another project which is talked about less, but which was or is equally impressive in terms of its conception and construction I am talking about the marvel of engineering that is the Grand Canal, also known as the Grand Canal Jing-Hang, the longest canal or artificial river in the world, whose construction dates back to the fifth century BC(in other words, building started on it more than 2,500 years ago!), which is more than 1, 700 kilometres long between Beijing in the north of the country and Hangzhou in the south, and which has now been presented by the Chinese to be declared the property of the whole of humanity.
