Yingkou has a long history of hot springs going back to the 1 6th century when it was then realized how beneficial the natural waters were for health and recuperation. In fact, along the Xiangshui River, locals used to be able to dig their own hot spring pits along the banks. The water quality here is of the best in Liaoning with high levels of beneficial trace elements that prompt many visitors to come here specifically for relief from arthritis and muscle pain. Skin therapy has also been long associated with Yingkou hot springs and is still very popular today. The natural hot springs reach up to 80-90 degrees Celsius at times and some people would bring eggs to boil in the hotter springs.
