As one of the Top 100 Happiest Cities in China for 2011，Yingkou is both a strong economic base and large water-based culture and tourism city.Yingkou sits along Liaoning’s Liaodong Bay at the mouth of the Liaohe River by the Bohai Sea.As the first port open to foreign development in China’s Northeast，shipping has long been the driving force behind Yingkou，with the traditional mineral resources found all over Liaoning.The magnesite deposits important to steelmaking here are the largest in Liaoning.

Today，the sea is the big draw to the city with both aquaculture and tourism as major industries.The Shanhai Plaza，where the mountains meet the sea offers great views of the Bohai and Wang’er Mountain.Seafood in Yingkou is great with many restaurants offering great buffets of crabs，shrimp，clams and oysters all from the nearby bay.The beaches in springs are packed with tourists enjoying the warm sun and in winter the iced-over waves are a beautiful sight.
