1 min readThe Zhongshan Bridge,located in Lanzhou,Gansu,was the first permanent bridge over the Yellow River.It was constructed from the year 1907 to 1909.In 1907,the local officers in Lanzhou and Gansu proposed to build a bridge over the upper reaches of the Yellow River and with the help of a German,the Qing Government started to implement this plan.All materials,even the rivets,were delivered fromGermany to China by any kinds of transportation,including ships,trains,carts and other means possible.2 years later,The Bridge was finished and called“Lanzhou Iron Bridge over the Yellow River”.In 1942,in order to commemorate Dr.Sun Yat-sen,the Bridge was changed name to Zhongshan Bridge.Even today 10 bridges have been constructed nearby,and more bridges will replace the work of Zhongshan Bridge,but no one can take place of its great value in history or its great work over 80 years.
